Essentials of Social Media Marketing: Chapter 2

Image
In my social media class, we are reading "Essentials of Social Media Marketing." This week we read Chapter 2, which is all about developing your personal brand.  Your personal brand is essentially your reputation, and what separates you from your peers. Personal branding is becoming more and more important every day. How you promote yourself on and offline can help interviewers assess who you are and determine if they want to hire you.  One of the first steps in building your personal brand is conducting an audit of your online self. There are many people who have never searched for themselves on the internet, but that is one of the first things potential employers and customers are going to do. The book recommends looking up your name along with your hometown, look at what shows up on the links, photos, etc. From there you can get rid of anything you wouldn't want a future employer to see. It's hard to believe that we've only been back for two weeks, it feels like it's been a lifetime. It finally snowed here in Ada on Saturday night, and it is so cold! I spent most of Sunday catching up on Netflix with one of my roommates and went to my boyfriend's house for dinner that night. They have a fireplace in their basement, and it was so cozy down there! I am a pole vaulter for the Track & Field team here, and I'm also in a few campus organizations. I just recently picked up the Social Media minor, and that led me to take Principles of Social Media this semester. One of our big assignments in this class is to create and maintain a blog, so you can find me here about twice a week for the next few months posting about life at ONU and our textbook for this course.  This is something totally new for me, and honestly a little bit outside of my comfort zone. I love when I get to be creative, but I generally have a hard time when there's no right or wrong answer to things. However, I think that the only good way to get better at something is to force yourself out of your comfort zone, try your best, and make a few mistakes along the way until you eventually figure things out.  Anyways, a few things
