Last Week of Preseason Track... Ever!

Bloggers, the title speaks for itself. This week is the last week of preseason track practice, and since I'm a senior, this means that it is my last preseason ever. I am kind of sad! This year is going to be filled with many last firsts, and although my years here have flown by, it still feels like the time has come.

Regardless, I'm excited to have regular practices and finally meet all the new polar bears! During our preseason, we workout in smaller groups at different times of the day, so I haven't quite gotten to know everyone yet. I'm also excited to get back to pole vaulting. I have been away from it all summer and during the preseason to focus on lifting and a little bit of running. I also spent the majority of my summer helping coach pole vault at my high school and I have been so jealous of the kids because they got to jump a lot, so it's going to be so fun to start jumping again on Monday!

As the lifting and practice loads continue to increase, my body has been pretty sore all around. But, I have been consistently lifting the heaviest weights I have ever lifted! I know that all the work and soreness that is coming will be well worth it. I cannot wait to see how pole vaulting goes in practice, and I'm definitely going to be counting down the days until our first track meet.

Although I'm excited for practices to start, I know that things will become more stressful than they already are. Practices are going to double in length, which all around means less time for me to work on my capstone project and other coursework. I'm sure everything will be just fine like it has always been in the last three years, but there is still going to be a small part of me that will be nervous about the little change that's coming into my schedule.

I know I have talked so much about how stressed I am in my blog posts this year, and I really would like to apologize. This is such a busy time in my life, and I am not used to it! Sometimes I feel like writing this blog is a more public version of what I would write in a personal journal. I have considered writing in a journal for some time now, but again, I have no time!

Talk to you next week!

Cool picture of me vaulting at the national meet to keep me motivated:)
