Last Week of Preseason Track... Ever!

Image
Bloggers, the title speaks for itself. This week is the last week of preseason track practice, and since I'm a senior, this means that it is my last preseason ever. I am kind of sad! This year is going to be filled with many last firsts, and although my years here have flown by, it still feels like the time has come. Regardless, I'm excited to have regular practices and finally meet all the new polar bears! During our preseason, we workout in smaller groups at different times of the day, so I haven't quite gotten to know everyone yet. I'm also excited to get back to pole vaulting. I have been away from it all summer and during the preseason to focus on lifting and a little bit of running. I also spent the majority of my summer helping coach pole vault at my high school and I have been so jealous of the kids because they got to jump a lot, so it's going to be so fun to start jumping again on Monday!  As the lifting and practice loads continue to increase, my body has

Bloggers! It's week five... I guess? I think I have mentioned this in one way or another in every blog, but this year is flying by. I was unsure of what to write about this week, again. But I finally came to the conclusion of writing about my newfound hobby of photography. Well, I have always loved taking photos, but my interest has piqued again recently.  My memory is pretty terrible, so I don't remember exactly when my interest in cameras and photography began. However, I believe it came from doing photoshoots with my aunt when I was pretty young. My first camera was a little digital camera that had terrible resolution, a very tiny screen, and had Hannah Montana on the front. I know that I took so many photos on that camera and used it so much that once I was a little bit older, my parents got me a slightly better and more grown-up camera. This newer one was red and still had pretty terrible resolution, but I wasn't old enough to care.  I found the red camera when I was c

As I was contemplating what I was going to write about this week, I realized that my weekend was EXTREMELY BORING. I mean, I really didn't do a whole lot. The past few weeks have been packed full of meetings and events and everything in between and I was just thankful to have a moment to breathe. I cleaned my room and some of the house, I went for a little bike ride, and I just took the extra day to relax, because I needed it. Am I extra stressed for this week because I wasn't productive? Yes. Was it really worth it? Also, yes. Anyways - I'm sitting on my bed thinking "what the heck am I going to write about", and I look over at my dresser. And you're probably thinking "wow, I can't believe she's actually going to write about her dresser." And I'm here to tell you that yes, I am actually going to write about my dresser.  Now, this isn't any old dresser. I didn't buy it from Ikea, and I didn't bring it from home, and I didn'

Labor Day Weekend

It's already week three? How did that happen? My schedule has been absolutely packed since move-in day and I feel like I add three more things to my planner every day. It was nice to have a long weekend, however, the shortened week is extra stressful because it makes it seem like you have so much less time. Balancing classes, track practice, my part-time remote job, and all of my other jobs on campus has been a little difficult, but there haven't been any issues... yet. I feel like I am bound to slip up at some point, whether that be missing a meeting or forgetting to write my blog post again. I usually keep digital post-it notes on my laptop to remind myself of what I need to do throughout the week, but there are simply too many events to put on my little notes, so I have had to force myself to write in my planner. Now I just need to figure out how to remind myself to check that every day! This weekend, like the rest of my week, was super busy. Saturday was filled with sports

Mud Volleyball & Senior Capstone Kickoff

Hey there, blogging world - this week has flown by! So fast that I managed to forget to write my blog post for this week... Hopefully, I will do better next week, and I will be back in the swing of things. I tried something new this weekend! At the beginning of each school year at ONU, the freshmen residence hall hosts a mud volleyball tournament. Every year I have been so hesitant to participate that I have never played. However, I've come to terms with the fact that I'm a senior and I only have one more chance to participate in all of the fun things that I haven't done in the past few years here. So, I finally played mud volleyball this past weekend! The people on the track team that wanted to play were split up into three randomized teams. My team was half upperclassmen and the other half freshmen. It was such a fun way to get to know a few of our new teammates. My team actually ended up playing really well too! We won almost every game without going through a full servi
